Blizzard 2009

So we went to South Dakota to visit our families, and when we landed it was snowing and the weather was not so good, then we got word that wed we were going to get some more. Off to Bills parents house to spend our first few days and all we heard on the news was how SD was going to get the worst blizzard to hit since 1968 and if you wanted to be some where by Christmas to leave now, if you could get to your destination but the next afternoon, if not stay put. Well on wed, it wasn't that bad a little snow, but then on the 24th we should have left to go to my parents as it wasn't that bad the 25th this is what it looked like. Visibility was less then 1/4 mile. Here are pictures I took of our Christmas Blizzard. We left for my parents house Saturday afternoon around 4 and it took us 3 hours to get there, normaly it is a about 1 1/2. Conditions were not the best but we made it. Wouldn't have been so bad but we were flying out Monday night. The barn, and check out the drift in fron of me.
Taken through the kitchen window. I couldn't open the door very far.

Back yard see it snowing.

Back yard again.
Ok this is not of the Blizzard, but my mother-in-law is a great little artist and she painted this for my father-in-law it is of their barn.
